Paulette was an excellent...

Paulette was an excellent guide. She took us to some places where locals eat. The food was fantastic. The descriptions of local cuisine and history were informative.

Very much recommended

I’ve been living in Barbados for over a year now but never get the chance to really explore Bridgetown (too hot, too traffic, too much people). Good thing I found this tour and made me appreciate the town more (with a lot of historical info from my tour guide). When I arrived at the meeting place, Paulette was already there and told me that there will be just two joiners for this tour (un)luckily the other person forgot about the tour so I was left alone on the tour with Paulette, which makes it like a private tour yey! She started by sharing histories about Barbados and what the broken trident means on their flag (which I have a broken trident tattoo btw). Then we went on the food tour around Bridgetown. She brought me to this hole in the wall restaurant to start my first meal, which was a huge portion of pork with pickled cucumber and boiled cassava (the portions were huge because it was supposed to be for two persons originally). The place has great view on the second floor. We then walked around to get some legendary fish cakes (which is better served with pepper sauce). Walked again to the insides of Bridgetown to see what the local market looks like, tried some sorrel juice and ripe mango (at this time I no longer able to finish the food she’s giving me so I just put them all in a bag to enjoy when I get home). We then walked towards Crumbs bakery to try some local baked goods (i forgot the name of the one she had me try but it’s really good to be partnered with hot coffee or tea). Then went to a restaurant inside a mall to try some Corn Cou-cou and Paulette even asked the lady to put some gravy on it. The last part of the tour is, yes dessert! We went to Agape to try some ice cream and I chose rum and raisins! This is a really great tour if you want to blend in to the local market and try local food! Thank you Paulette for showing me around Bridgetown!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this tour!!!

If you have a chance to book a tour while in Barbados, please make sure you try the Original Bajan Walking Food Tour. My husband and I were able to experience the authentic Bridgetown cultures, meet various locals along the way, partake in the most AMAZING food, and learned a great deal about the culture of Barbados. The group leader had a sweet disposition, she made sure we were satisfied while experiencing the tour, and she was extremely knowledgeable of the history of Barbados. The tour was worth every penny and you will not be disappointed.

Great time

A nice tour of Bridgetown and the local food. You get to see some of the more local areas and get a little history with your food.

Definitely worth a try - a real insight into bajan food and culture.

Lots of interesting bajan dishes and drinks coupled with a engaging history of the island and its culture from our lovely guide Janelle. We met some lovely people along the way and got a good tour of Bridgetown - not too exhausting in the baking sun as there were lots of stops to give us time to cool down!
