It was my son’s birthday and we took the family for the experience. We had a great time and did the distillery tour as well.
A Wonderful Experience!

My most memorable part of this trip was the wealth of historical information that the train operator Michael has. The staff is friendly and very helpful. It’s simply a wonderful experience.
Excellent visit

Excellent visit. Beautifully restored railway and steam train to ride through cane fields followed by a visit to the rum distillery and Jacobean house. Hugely entertaining and friendly team - thoroughly recommended
Must-do

This is a must-do family activity in Barbados. We really enjoyed the train ride, looking around the house and the bird cages. We stopped for freshly cooked fish cakes and took some rum home. Great for adults and children!
A ride to remember .

The scenery to the location was refreshing, full of life and lush. Upon arrival we paid at the front entrance for the tour .There was a shop you can purchase light refreshments, drinks and washroom facilities outside the train area. The hand sanitizer had an unique and interesting scent, lovely.Young children were allowed on the train with supervision.
The train ride has informative history about Barbados environment .
The view is beautiful, the train's speed isnt swift , there is enough to see as the train goes by . I will recommend especially for families . Souvenirs were seen for purchase at the lookout area or one of the stops. This is a breathtaking view and must see /do while in Barbados .
A Must-Do! Worth the Drive!

Fantastic experience! The train ride was fun, breezy, and informative—excellent entrance to the plantation’s story. Loved the turntable experience and the view from Cherry Hill. Our tour of the house was just as informative, and our tour guide was hilarious with supreme attention to detail and to tour group questions! The video (from 1935!) was also amazing and placed this plantation in the context of the history of Barbados. Felt the rum tasting truly brought the experience full circle. Simon was a wonderful host for the tasting; in addition to being engaging, personable, and terribly funny, he took care to greet and speak to each guest on the tour.
Great Heritage Experience

On Sunday, November 13,2022 my daughter and I visited your fascinating site. The train ride was thrilling because we didn't have such a ride for a while. The tour guide did an engaging, interesting job. We enjoyed the opportunity given to toot the horn.

Something to do

Something to do to see the beautiful flowers and trees. Not a long train ride (maybe 15 minutes or so), but the experience is truly about the old train with burning wood and the sceneries.

I'd recommend this excursions if you get board at the resort.
Good but pricey

Interesting to learn about the history of the plantation and Barbados, we found it quite pricey for what it is but we still enjoyed it.
The guides were great and knew a lot of interesting facts.

Wasn’t a fan of the vendor at the top of the hill trying to sell photos with captured monkeys.
Important part of a great visit

We much enjoyed the whole visit to the estate. The railway was an unmissable part, taking us through pleasant grounds to a spectacular viewpoint. Everyone loves a steam train!
A must do experience

The house is in a beautiful location and is well maintained. It has much to offer for history lovers but also for people wanting only to know a bit more about Barbados.
The railway tour is a must do experience and it's worth the cost of it.

The minor negative comes from the café/restaurant where despite a limited choice we had a nice lunch but it took way too much time
Don’t expect much - mega expensive

We arrived at the gate, paid on the card but was told it hadn’t gone through, so did it again (found out later it had gone through so paid twice). Went on the train which was lovely (didn’t like being ambushed at the end by local sellers when we just wanted to see the view). There was also a poor monkey with rope tied round its middle being passed around for pictures (very sad). Returned by train via the house but was only shown 2 rooms (couldn’t go upstairs either), then walked over to the tasting room where you were given a glass of fumes (no liquid in it), the guide then pointed us to the shop and left. The entire thing lasted just over an hour (we stayed longer looking at the garden). Very expensive for very little and the rum being sold (which you don’t taste) is very expensive!!
